We have just heard that we can now welcome back guests to Goose Croft from Monday April 12th 2021

Sun through thegrit .JPG

Kinder Scout

9pm on Kinder Scout, after walking all the way round the edge path. Caught the sunset through the strange shaped gritstone boulders, carved out by the elements.

The Foxgloves are out

What a stunning view. Looking towards Grindsbrook with Kinder Scout in the background. Just a 20min walk from Goose Croft.

Primroses

The garden is beginning to bloom. The wild primroses (primula vulgaris) are looking beautiful.

Always chaos when redecorating!

Time to redecorate

We have also taken the opportunity to redecorate the lounge and bedroom in ‘skimming stone’ a beautiful Farrow and Ball colour that’s looks great in the cottage.

Work completed

Drain 3.JPG

A good job done

After 4 days of manual work with two of us digging and shovelling, we have finished the two drains.

Maintenance work during COVID19

COVID19

Well what a strange time, one minute we had a full calendar of guest for the next 3 months and then no was allowed to visit.

So, time to get on with jobs!

We dug a drainage ditch round two sides of Goose Croft where the level of the ground is higher than the floor level inside.

Kinder Scout

From Kinder across to Losehill.jpg

Looking across from the southern edge of Kinder Scout

What a day, the heather in its full glory and a fabulous walk back from Derwent reservoir to Goose Croft. The hill in the distance is Losehill and Back Tor is to the right, all part of the Mam Tor Ridge.

15 minutes from Goose Croft

Looking down the path, half way up to The Nab. Look a little closer and you will see path in the valley bottom. This is an alternative walk that will take you up Grindsbrook and onto Kinder Scout.

The hill you can see in the top right of the photo is Grinslow Knoll which stands at 601m.
